The Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation has purchased a Mini Shark UAS for the Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance unit.
Serhiy Prytula announced this on his website.
Together with the Toronto Television media project, the Foundation raised UAH 7 million and purchased a Mini Shark-TS unmanned aerial system and a vehicle for the Ukrainian military.
“Initially, UAH 6.5 million were planned, but thanks to a donation from the Intellias company, there turned out to be UAH 1.9 million more. So we bought more,” the Foundation reported.
The transferred unmanned aerial system includes, in addition to the control station, five reconnaissance drones.
The Mini Shark is the smallest reconnaissance drone produced by the Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems. The larger version of the Shark drone is actively used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces for reconnaissance and adjustment of artillery and missile strikes.
The drone has a flight duration of 2 hours with a full load and can rise to a maximum altitude of 3 kilometers. The communication range at which the drone can transmit camera images to the operator does not exceed 35 km.
The UAV’s wingspan is 2.6 meters, and its length is 125 cm. The drone has a maximum takeoff weight of up to 5,5 kg.
The Mini Shark is equipped with a USG-261 gyro-stabilized camera with a 10x optical zoom and Full-HD image. In addition, the camera software has a digital image stabilizer.
The whole system is packed in two backpacks: the first one holds 2 drones and 2 cameras, and the second one contains a control station and spare parts.
The control station consists of a control laptop, an antenna, and a tripod. In the event of a connection loss, the drone automatically returns to the operator.
Two people are required to operate the system. The drone is launched by hand, without the use of a catapult.
