German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the transfer of €650 million worth of weapons to Ukraine in December.
He announced this on his X.
According to him, the statement will be made during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The German Chancellor is currently in Kyiv, where he will soon meet with Zelensky to discuss Germany’s continued support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
According to the plan, the aid announced in December 2024 will include artillery systems, 155-mm ammunition, IRIS-T air defense systems, and other equipment needed by the defense forces to counter Russia.
The plan itself was presented by German General Christian Freuding during a speech for German television in August 2024, where he announced a list of weapons to be transferred to Ukraine by the end of 2024.
According to this plan, two batteries of IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense systems and two batteries of IRIS-T SLS short-range systems are to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year.
10 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns armed with two 35-mm cannons are to be delivered to Ukraine.
In addition to air defense systems, about 30 Leopard 1A5 tanks are expected, which are currently being restored by Rheinmetall specialists. There will also be 400 MRAP armored vehicles of an unknown model.
12 PzH-2000 tracked self-propelled guns and four Zuzana 2 wheeled self-propelled artillery systems will be supplied.
Among other things, there is also an unspecified amount of firearms, ammunition, logistics transport, a field hospital, etc.
Militarnyi previously reported that the German government financed 30 GEREON RCS unmanned ground platforms for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
