Satellite images have revealed an unknown delivery of the Israeli Barak MX air defense system to Morocco.
Defense researcher Semper Supra (@CaelumPugnator) reported on this.
He published satellite images showing elements of this air defense system deployed in the country.
The Israeli-made anti-aircraft missile system was deployed at an air defense base near the city of Sidi Yahya el Gharb, which is located northeast of the capital Rabat.
Morocco ordered Barak MX air defense systems from Israel in February 2022. The contract for their supply was estimated at about $500 million.
The Barak MX is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The system includes a combat control center, Elta ELM-2084 multifunctional radars with active phased-array antennas, and launchers.
The system allows the use of a number of missiles of different flight ranges: up to 35 km, 70 km, and up to 150 km. The SAM was combat tested during the conflict with Iran in June 2025.
Morocco is actively cooperating with Israel in the defense sector.
A month ago, the Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, opened a production site in Morocco to manufacture SpyX kamikaze drones.
The project also includes a technology transfer program. Local engineers will be trained to assemble and maintain the systems themselves.
In addition, media outlets reported that the Israeli company Elbit, with its wheeled self-propelled artillery system Atmos 2000, won the Moroccan competition against the French KNDS with their Caesar system.
Recent satellite imagery also showed that Morocco has received at least 97 US Oshkosh M-ATV armored vehicles.
