The Swedish defense company Saab and Ukraine’s Radionics have signed a memorandum of intent to establish a strategic partnership in military electronics, Saab announced in a press release.
The collaboration will focus on the joint development and maintenance of sensor systems and electronics, leveraging the strengths of both companies.
Radionics will contribute its expertise in radar and optical equipment, while Saab will provide its experience in defense technologies and high-precision electronics.
“We look forward to this collaboration with Radionix, leveraging both companies’ expertise.
This agreement underscores Saab’s strong commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence capability and defence industry” stated Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab.
Cooperation with Saab, a global leader in radar technology, is expected to bring Ukrainian technologies to a new level.
Saab is the manufacturer of the Giraffe family of tactical and target radars, the Sea Giraffe naval radar, and the GlobalEye airborne radar.
Militarnyi reported that Norwegian missile manufacturer Kongsberg has announced the integration of Ukrainian-made interceptor missiles into the NASAMS air defense system.
“We are now establishing a company in Ukraine. We are in close discussion with industry in Ukraine to establish a joint venture. The first priority is to increase missile production for our air defence system in Ukraine, based on Ukrainian technology,” said the company president.
The company plans to begin mass production, with hundreds of units expected to be manufactured. Joint ventures could be launched within months.
While these missiles will likely be integrated into Ukraine’s existing NASAMS systems, the possibility of their use in the new NOMADS self-propelled air defense systems—recently considered for Ukraine by the German government—cannot be ruled out.
