One of Russia’s chemical industry enterprises has announced a tender for the purchase of aerostats to protect its facilities from Ukrainian drone attacks.
The Russian outlet Daily Storm reported on this.
The application was published in September 2025. The aerostat-based defense system is planned to be installed at a chemical industry facility in the Tula region.
The specific enterprise acting as the customer is not specified, but several large chemical plants operate in the region.
The project’s cost exceeds RUB 9 million. The structure is expected to be manufactured and installed within about a month.
The Russian company Stratospheric Systems is responsible for the production.
The system will consist of a group of aerostats connected by a special net designed to stop Ukrainian drones.
The manufacturer’s website also states that the aerostats are equipped with an electronic warfare system.
However, the effectiveness of such protection is questionable – it is virtually impossible to keep this type of barrier airborne continuously.
Most likely, the aerostats will only be deployed during heightened aerial threats or upon a signal from Russian intelligence.
