Russian troops tried to break through the Ukrainian marines’ defense line using rare PRP-4 reconnaissance combat vehicles.
The video of the episode was released by the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion.
During the advance, one of the vehicles hit a mine, after which the other began to push it.
At this point, the Russian troops disembarked from the vehicles, but immediately came under attack from Ukrainian drones.
The enemy assault group retreated to the forest belt, where they hid in trenches and shelters, but the drones consistently destroyed them. In total, according to Borsuks, 26 occupants were eliminated.
Both combat vehicles were also destroyed.
Based on the characteristic structural elements, in particular the turret, the OSINT community determined that PRP-4 reconnaissance vehicles in the Deuterium or Backgammon modification took part in the assault.
It is worth noting that during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the enemy lost at least four Deuterium and four Nard vehicles, one of which was captured by Ukrainian troops.
The battle took place near the town of Myrnohrad in the Pokrovsk sector.
The PRP-4 is a Soviet and Russian mobile reconnaissance post designed to conduct reconnaissance and fire missile and artillery systems.
The vehicle is based on the BMP-1 and has a similar level of armor protection. For self-defense, a 7.62 mm machine gun is mounted in the turret.
The PRP-4 is equipped with a set of observation and reconnaissance devices. In particular, the 1PN59 device is used for daytime surveillance, and the 1PN61 night vision device is used for night reconnaissance. The unit also has a 1RL133-1 radar station, which provides target detection at a considerable distance.
The range of object recognition in night conditions is up to 3 km. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a 1D11M-1 rangefinder, the range of which has been expanded compared to the previous PRP-3 model and ranges from 100 to 10,000 meters.
