Russians likely shot down their own military helicopter in the Rostov region during a drone attack.
Several pro-Kremlin Telegram channels associated with aviation reported the loss.
According to these reports, the incident took place near the town of Millerovo late on the evening of March 3. Members of the crew were killed.
The model of the helicopter that was shot down by “friendly fire” is currently unknown. The incident took place during a massive Ukrainian drone attack in the Rostov region.
Russian forces likely deployed the aircraft to intercept the drones, but something apparently went wrong.
The exact number of fatalities among the crew of the Russian helicopter has not yet been disclosed. As of the morning of March 4, there have been no official statements on the matter.
In particular, on the morning of March 4, Yury Slyusar, the governor of the Russian region, only reported an attack by “dozens of UAVs” the previous evening and overnight, which was allegedly repelled in the Millerovsky and Tarasovsky districts.
Photos allegedly showing the possible crash site of the Russian helicopter were also published on public social media pages; however, their authenticity has not yet been confirmed.
Messages from pro-Kremlin propagandists suggest that Russian air defense most likely shot down the aircraft, possibly after being mistaken for a Ukrainian drone.
