The Russian military installs modules of anti-aircraft missile systems on the Black Sea Fleet patrol ships.
Recently, the project 22160 patrol ship “Pavel Statoin” with mounted Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system was spotted .
The 9М331МКМ Tor-М2КМ SAM is a modular version of the system, designed for installing on any kind of chassis, or on the decks of ships or stationary platforms.
The autonomous combat module of this version is armed with four surface-to-air missiles.
Tor-2МКМ SAM is a modification of Tor-М2Е and differs by modular principle of architecture.
The system was designed by JSC Concern VKO “Almaz-Antey” and the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant, which is part of it.
In 2013, at the Kapustin Yar training ground of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation tested the Tor-М2КМ modification installed on the Indian company “Tata Motors” chassis.
During the tests, all tactical and technical characteristics were fully confirmed, in particular, the combat capabilities of the system for the defeat of air targets at the far border of the 15 kilometers zone of operating range.
It also applied to the targets flying at a speed of 700 m/s, as well as targets flying with a course parameter of 6 km at a distance of 12 km.
It should be noted that these Russian systems were purchased by Armenia’s military.
In 2020, during the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Tor-М2КМ of the Armenian Armed Forces were destroyed by Turkish UAVs.
Armenia lost four of the six Russian Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile systems deployed in Karabakh.
