The Russian military has started re-equipping AO-2.5RT aircraft submunitions to be used by attack drones.

The specialized Telegram channel on landmines, “Landmines and Coffee”, reported this.

During the modification, the standard fuze is removed from the munition and replaced with an EDP (Electrodetonator with a platinum-iridium bridge) and an impact sensor.

To integrate the explosive device with the drone, the Russians use a 3D printer to make a special intermediate sleeve.

A plastid is additionally embedded in the munition, which increases the overall charge power.

The AO-2.5RT is a Soviet fragmentation submunition used in cluster bombs. It is used to defeat manpower, light vehicles, and unfortified objects in an area.

The munition has a metal casing with fragments inside to destroy the target. The total weight of such a charge is about 2.5 kilograms.
