The Russians have started using a hybrid of a naval gun and a carriage from a towed artillery gun.
The video was posted on the X.
The video shows Russians firing from a towed M-46 artillery gun, but using unitary shots that are typically not used with these guns.
At the end of the video, one of the soldiers mentions that the gun is an interesting hybrid, featuring a barrel from an Ak-130 130mm ship gun mounted on a carriage from an M-46 gun.
The footage shows the moment of loading, where an A3-UF-44 130mm high-explosive fragmentation round from the Ak-130 naval gun can be seen, as well as A-217, A-218, A-222, and A-192M rounds.
The modernized breech of the gun is particularly noteworthy.
There is a high probability that these hybrid guns are manufactured by Russian enterprises to provide the troops with the required quantity of artillery systems.
Since the Ak-130 naval guns have been manufactured since the early 1980s, the Russian Navy has a lot of them in their warehouses.
Since the Ak-130 is not installed on new ships, it is possible for decommissioned guns to be used in land-based systems.
Due to the shortage of artillery systems, the Russian army began equipping land vehicles with shipboard weapons in 2023.
One of these vehicles is a truck with an RBU-6000 anti-submarine bomb launcher.
The Russian army also used the RBU-6000 on MT-LB artillery tractors, photos of which were published in September 2023.
Later, a photo was also published of this MRL attached to a T-80B tank, which probably belongs to a Russian Navy marine unit.
