Russian drone operators demonstrated the use of ambush tactics against Ukrainian wheeled vehicles.
The video was published on one of the Russian Telegram channels.
It is reported that the tactic was employed by the units of the 14th Guards Separate Special Purpose Brigade.
The essence of the method is as follows: a drone drops special spikes onto the roadway along which Ukrainian vehicles are moving.
The driver, traveling at high speed, does not notice the obstacle — as a result, the wheels are damaged, and the vehicle loses momentum or significantly slows down.
After that, FPV drones strike the vehicle.
Such spikes may not pose a serious threat to armored vehicles equipped with a centralized tire inflation system and runflat inserts, which allow movement even with punctured tires.
However, for other wheeled vehicles — those without these systems — such a tactic creates a significant problem, effectively stopping them in open terrain and making them an easy target for strikes.
As previously reported, Russian troops made an attempt at a massive assault on the Pokrovsk direction using a new tactic, involving about a hundred motorcycles, a significant amount of armored vehicles, and wheeled transport.
During exercises, the enemy practices moving in small groups of 3–5 infantrymen, as well as in convoys or ‘swarms’ of 30–50 motorcyclists.
The main advantage of this tactic is the speed of movement, which minimizes the time spent in open terrain, thus reducing the risk of operational detection and targeting.
Additionally, defenders have much less time to detect targets, aim, and open fire, as motorcyclists actively maneuver and quickly change distance.
