For the first time, the Russian military demonstrated the latest multi-caliber multiple-launch Vozrozhdeniye rocket system.
Russian propaganda media released footage of the combat vehicle.
During the visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the latest Vozrozhdeniye rocket system was presented at the facility of the Russian defense enterprise NPO Splav in Tula.
The peculiarity of this MLRS is the principle of modular charging, which is new for Russia and involves using ready-made launch containers with rockets.
This concept allows using different types of ammunition on the same platform. The released footage captured containers of two types, namely 25-tube with rockets of 140mm caliber and 8-tube with rockets of 220mm caliber.
In addition, using ready-made containers allows for accelerating the reloading process at times, avoiding alternately installing rockets in tubes, as in Soviet systems.
According to Sergey Chemezov, Director General of the Russian state corporation Rostec, the new rocket artillery system should be a further development of the Russian Zemledeliye engineering system of remote minelaying, which demonstrated the advantages of using modular charging.
Based on the published photos, it can be assumed that Vozrozhdeniye received the same KamAZ 63501 four-axle chassis with an 8×8 wheel formula, just like Zemledeliye.
Chemezov claimed that the new platform should combine the fleet of multiple rocket launchers into one system.
Vozrozhdeniye will be able to fire rockets of various calibers, mines, and ammunition of TOS-1 and TOS-2 flamethrower systems.
At the time, it was stated that mass production of these vehicles was expected in the first half of 2024. However, it is not known whether the MLRS shown in the photo was a serial product or a prototype.
Over the period of a full-scale invasion, Ukrainian soldiers managed to destroy two Zemledeliyes used to create minefields in Zaporizhzhia.
