Russians have claimed that Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles are being used to strike targets on their territory.
Two propaganda telegram channels, Voevoda Veshchayet and Kirill Fedorov/War History Weapons, reported their use today.
Neither of them specifies how many missiles were used in total and when, as well as when the photos were taken to illustrate the published publications.
Today, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the successful use of Neptune and Flamingo cruise missiles during a combined strike on Russian territory last week.
“Last week – I will not say in what quantity – our Neptune and Flamingo were used. The results can be analyzed independently. We are not saying that this is a massive use of this pair. We are simply saying that there is use, and there are the first tangible results of this particular weapon,” Zelensky said.
The President did not name the specific targets that were attacked by Ukrainian missile systems.
One of the officially known strikes with Neptune cruise missiles was carried out on September 29, when the Defense Forces hit the main workshop of the Electrodetal plant. The company specializes in the manufacture of electronic warfare (EW) equipment, measuring instruments, electronic connectors, and cable products.
Prior to that, on September 23, the governor of Belgorod region reported a missile strike and illustrated his message with pictures of the crater from the arrival:
Later, the local publication Pepel.Belgorod clarified that it was the Belgorod Plant of Milling Cutters. The size of the funnel suggests the use of a missile with a warhead of several hundred kilograms, which may include the use of both the Neptune missile system, where the warhead is 260 kg, and the Flamingo missile with a warhead weight of 1180 kg.
Earlier, in early September, Militarnyi reported that Flamingo missiles struck a facility of the Russian FSB border service near Armyansk in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The new weapon was unveiled on August 17, when Associated Press photojournalist Efrem Lukatsky posted the first pictures of the missile on his Facebook page.
It is stated that the current rate is one missile per day, but production will increase in the future. At the same time, the Flamingo costs less than 1 million euros. On August 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the Flamingo tests were successful and that mass production would start early next year. At the same time, he emphasized that the pace of the program directly depends on its funding.
