In the Bakhmut direction, Russian forces have changed tactics and began creating assault detachments.

This was announced by the spokesman for the Eastern Group of Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevaty.

Instead of using company battalion formations, the Russians are now creating assault detachments.

The detachments include assault groups, divided into subgroups that directly storm, and those that cover them with fire.

“We are studying these tactics – and for every such military poison we have an antidote,” said Serhii Cherevaty.

According to him, the Ukrainian military is strengthening surveillance, in particular by means of unmanned systems.

“We are trying to identify the enemy in advance and strike with artillery, mortars, and when they are approaching our positions, with small weapons,” Cherevaty added.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions, the enemy continues to make attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops.

Russian troops bombarded the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with mortars, barrel and rocket artillery in the areas of more than twenty settlements, including Verkhnekamyanske, Spirne, Vesele, Belohorivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Bila Hora, Kurdyumivka, Zalizne and Avdiivka, Donetsk region.

Bakhmut is one of the largest cities in the Donetsk region. For several months in a row, the Russian army has been trying to storm the city, which remains under the control of the Ukrainian authorities.
