Ukrainian troops in Olenivka hit a parking lot where the invaders were hiding a TOR air defense system.
The system was identified by scouts from the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, who observed it using a drone.
“Our scouts inspected the Donbas Arena in Donetsk from a drone and discovered a Russian Tor anti-aircraft missile system,” the military said.
The reconnaissance drone accompanied the Russian system to its parking place in the village of Olenivka.
The invaders hid the TOR in an industrial building on the outskirts of the village.
The location was immediately hit by a U.S. HIMARS rocket system.
The GMLRS rocket hit the industrial building where the TOR was stored.
It is highly likely that the system was disabled by a direct hit or due to shell fragments.
The neutralization of such systems should enhance the capabilities of Ukrainian aircraft, making it safer for them to fly into the occupied territories.
The TOR systems were used to shoot down GMLRS rockets from the HIMARS rocket launcher.
Recently, it became known that the Russians were upgrading the TOR anti-aircraft missile systems’ armor to protect them from Ukrainian attack drones and artillery.
However, the new set of additional armor will not protect against a direct hit from an artillery shell or a GMLRS missile with a shrapnel warhead.
