The Russian oil refinery in Syzran stopped processing oil after it was damaged in a drone strike on December 5.
Reuters reported this, citing two industry sources.
The refinery is owned by Rosneft and is located in Russia’s Samara region.
It is reported that the drones struck the refinery’s AVT-6 crude oil primary processing unit, which is the main piece of equipment. It was also targeted by drones in August and required repairs for two weeks.
One source said that the latest repair work could take about a month.
This is already at least the seventh successful Ukrainian strike on this Russian facility in 2025.
According to industry sources, oil processing at the Syzran refinery last year was significantly below capacity, at about 90,000 barrels per day.
Last year, the oil refinery produced 800,000 tonnes of gasoline, 1.5 million tonnes of diesel fuel, and 700,000 tonnes of fuel oil.
The facility supplies fuel to the Samara, Saratov, and Penza regions, as well as partly to the central regions of Russia. The refinery also provides fuel to airfields and military units of Russia’s Central and Southern Military Districts.
