Russian Su-30 Fighter Jet Crashes in Karelia, Killing Both Pilots

A Su-30SM fighter jet crashed near Petrozavodsk, in the Prionezhsky District of the Republic of Karelia.

The Russian SHOT and 112 Telegram channels reported on this.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft went down in a forested area close to the city’s airport.

There were two crew members on board, and according to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, both were killed.

The 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Russian Aerospace Forces is based in Karelia, stationed at the Besovets airfield near Petrozavodsk.

He is part of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division of the 6th Air and Air Defense Army of the Western Military District.

The regiment is equipped with Su-27 and Su-30SM fighter jets.
