A Russian serviceman passed on information about officers of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division involved in a missile attack on a children’s hospital in Kyiv.
The Sprotyv info project reported on this.
After the Russian attack on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital on July 8, 2024, one of the pilots of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division contacted the chatbot of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
It is reported that the Russian serviceman transferred the documentation of his military unit (military unit 06987, Engels military airbase): personal files of senior officers, personal data of servicemen and their families, as well as certified documents of the aviation division.
“The Russian soldier wrote that he was shocked by the attack on the children’s hospital and did not understand, as did several of his colleagues, why they were forced to strike at the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. Therefore, he decided to transfer to Ukraine documents related to the activities of the military unit, as well as private photos of the command staff of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division,” the project reported, citing its own sources in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
The Sprotyv info project published as an announcement a private photo of 30 commanders of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division.
The persons in the photo have been verified:
Investigators discovered the wreckage of a Kh-101 cruise missile at the site of the damaged hospital. These missiles are carried by Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers in service with the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division.
SSU investigators discovered fragments of the engine casing of the Kh-101 cruise missile with the inventory and serial numbers.
In addition, they discovered:
“It was a targeted attack. This is evidenced not only by the missile debris found at the impact site but also by the analysis of the flight path data,” the investigators stated.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine also reported that Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital was damaged by a direct hit from a Russian missile.
“Analysis of the video footage and assessment made at the incident site indicates a high likelihood that the children’s hospital suffered a direct hit rather than receiving damages due to an intercepted weapons system,” Danielle Bell, Head of Mission for the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, stated speaking to journalists in Geneva.
