Russian Missile and Drone Attacks Strike Ukraine’s Western Regions, Kharkiv, and Dnipro

Russia launched a combined missile-and-drone strike on the western regions of Ukraine on the morning of November 19.

The cities of Kharkiv and Dnipro were also under attack by Russian cruise missiles and drones during the night, and explosions were heard in other regions as well. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the enemy used 48 missiles of various types and more than 470 attack drones.

The invaders struck energy facilities; there is destruction and damage to residential buildings, and reports of fatalities have emerged.

In particular, in Ternopil, the first explosions occurred around 6:30 a.m., as cruise missiles attacked the city. As a result of the strike, buildings and residential houses in the city were damaged. According to preliminary information, nine people have been killed.

“Ternopil. There have been strikes on residential buildings. Rescue teams from the State Emergency Service and emergency medical services are working on site,” the Regional Military Administration reported.

In the city of Burshtyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a series of explosions also occurred in the morning due to an attack by Russian cruise missiles. Explosions were also heard in Ivano-Frankivsk.

In addition, the enemy also struck Lviv, and thick smoke is rising over the city after the impact. The city is also experiencing power outages.

Mayor Andrii Sadovyi reported that the thick smoke is the result of burning tires in civilian warehouse facilities that the Russians hit.

Later, Lviv City Council member Ihor Zinkevych reported that an energy facility in Lviv had been damaged, and a woodworking enterprise and a warehouse were destroyed. There were no casualties. Emergency power outages were also introduced in the Lviv region.

At least four Russian cruise missiles attacked the city of Dnipro. Local residents also heard explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region during the air raid alert that lasted from 01:49 a.m. to 07:54 a.m.

After midnight on November 19, Russia attacked Kharkiv with about 20 attack drones. The strikes caused injuries, and fires broke out in the city. The Slobidskyi, Osnovianskyi, and Nemishlianskyi districts came under attack. A strike on a nine-story building, followed by a fire, was recorded, as well as a garage fire. More than 30 people, including children, are known to have been injured.
