A Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone has crashed in Turkey. The drone was found near the city of Izmit, about 50 kilometers from Istanbul.
The incident was reported by Clash Report.
Given the location of the crash, it is likely that the drone was launched from the occupied Crimea.
According to preliminary estimates, the drone was used to reconnoiter the Black Sea by relaying signals to identify potential threats.
The main task of the device was probably to search for Ukrainian maritime drones.
At the same time, it is possible that the incident is related to the recent report of the interception of another unidentified drone by a Turkish F-16 fighter jet, which could also have been an Orlan-10 drone.
In that case, the drone was timely detected and intercepted as part of standard air monitoring procedures. However, this time the Russian drone made it to Turkey.
