The Russian armored vehicle manufacturer Kurgan Machine Building Plant has shown the Karakal unmanned ground vehicle.
The photos were published by armor researcher Andrdii Tarasenko.
It is reported that the weight of the remotely controlled platform without additional modules was 3400 kilograms, the body was made of aluminum.
The platform is 1360 millimeters high, 3250 millimeters long and 2200 millimeters wide.
The Karakal’s payload capacity is 500 kilograms, which allows the platform to be equipped with a wide range of payloads in the form of reconnaissance equipment or cargo.
In addition, this payload capacity makes it possible to install a combat load in the form of machine guns or automatic grenade launchers with a sufficiently large ammunition capacity.
The platform has a maximum speed of 15 kilometers per hour and is powered by an electronically controlled MMZ-4DT diesel engine. The platform’s range on a full charge is 100 kilometers.
The control range is up to 1.5 kilometers, and the control system is manufactured by the Russian Signal Institute.
The operator’s view is provided by the front and rear TK-95 cameras. The front camera has a heat channel.
Judging by the prototype, the Karakal is equipped with four mortars for creating a smoke screen.
Militarnyi recently reported that the Russians had showed a tracked combat platform armed with Shmel rocket-propelled infantry flamethrowers.
The unmanned platform, dubbed Omich-Shmel, was developed by the Omsk Armored Vehicle Engineering Institute.
