Russian troops have lost a Ka-52 attack helicopter in the Kursk region.
This was reported by the Russian propaganda Telegram channel “Call Sign《OSETIN》”.
Currently, according to the Russian military and propagandists, it is known that the helicopter’s commander (whose crew consisted of two pilots) didn’t survive.
The navigator was severely injured as a result of a hard landing and was hospitalized.
Based on the published photo of the Ka-52 helicopter, it is presumed that the crash landing was caused by an anti-aircraft missile or another air defense system equipped with a small warhead.
In addition, as a result of the hard landing, the helicopter started to burn, making it impossible to repair and return to service.
The Ka-52 helicopter is the only combat helicopter in the world equipped with ejection seats, but judging by their use, it is not always possible to eject, and in most cases, pilots die.
Due to the deteriorating situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border in Sumy region, the enemy has begun using attack helicopters to patrol and fire at Ukrainian defenders’ positions.
It is also known that the enemy uses its combat helicopters to intercept attack and reconnaissance drones on the border with Ukraine and on its territory.
Due to this specific use of Mi-28 and Ka-52 helicopters, the enemy has already suffered two accidents in July 2024 as a result of drone pursuit.
In late July 2024, a Mi-28 combat helicopter crashed in the Kaluga region of Russia. The incident killed the crew of two people. It is noted that there was no damage on the ground.
A similar accident occurred in early July, when a Mi-28 attack helicopter made an emergency landing in the Rostov oblast after a collision with a drone.
