The Russian latest wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) К-17 on the Boomerang platform during the inspection of its capabilities with two guided missiles didn’t hit its intended target.

The relevant video was released to the public.

The inspection of combat capabilities took place at the training ground as part of the “Army-2022” international military-technical forum, which is annually held in the Russian Federation. The event demonstrates the achievements of the defense industry and the latest developments in weapons and military equipment.

In the footage of the video, the Russian IFV showcased the sequential launch of two anti-tank guided missiles of the Kornet system from the Berezhok turret.

Apparently, a tank played the role of a target at the training ground.

However, despite the hopes of the Russians, the first missile flew over the target and hit the ground behind the target tank and exploded, and the second hit the barrel of the tank.

“Boomerang” is a promising mid-weight wheeled platform. The developer is Military Industrial Company LLC. The vehicle was first introduced in 2013. An open presentation was held at the rehearsal of the parade in 2015.

The combat vehicle has a mass of approximately 28 tons. The crew consists of three people, and eight people of the landing can also be accommodated inside. The engine is located at the front of the machine.

The IFV based on the Boomerang platform is equipped with the Berezhok turret. It is a classic BMP-2 turret, but with a retrofitted weapons system: instead of the main sight of the gunner BPK-2-42 a combined sight with an independent system for stabilizing the line of sight in two axes.

The armament consists of Kornet anti-tank guided missiles. Guidance is carried out on a laser beam and can be carried out in motion. The system has the ability to automatically launch two missiles at an interval of up to two seconds.

The 30 mm gun provides defeat of enemy equipment and infantry. In the aft part of the turret there is a 30 mm automatic grenade launcher AG-30М with an independent drive of vertical guidance and a ammunition of 300 rounds.

In August last year, state tests of a К-16 armored personnel carrier (APC) and a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) К-17 on the Boomerang platform began in the Russian Federation. Earlier, it was reported that the military would receive the first vehicles in 2019, but these deadlines were not met.
