Russian ground drones have begun to be used to assist in crossings of small rivers.

The Telegram group “Landmines and Coffee with Sandwiches” published a video showing a non-standard use of a logistics ground drone.

The footage shows one drone dropping stones into the water while a second drone presses them into place, helping to establish a makeshift path across the river.

Previously, these tasks were performed directly by military or engineering units.

Transferring such functions to robotic systems reduces the risk for personnel working near frontline positions.

The recorded episode illustrates a broader trend of expanding drone functionality, with unmanned systems gradually becoming a versatile tool on the battlefield.

At the same time, engineering versions of ground drones are also supplied to Ukraine. For example, the company Milrem Robotics produces THeMIS tracked drones with engineering capabilities for Ukrainian forces.
