The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports that the Russians are preparing a naval landing operation in Mariupol.

Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces noted that the preparation of the detachments of the 810th and 155th Marine Brigades of the Russian Federation was ongoing.

Hanna Malyar, Deputy Defense Minister noted that they are aware of this information, but it needs further clarification.

“During the day, airstrikes were carried out on Mariupol and there were assault actions in the seaport area. We are checking the information whether perhaps the enemy is preparing for a naval landing operation,” said Malyar.

She noted that the Defense Forces are keeping the city and do not let the enemy go further – deeper into the territory of Ukraine.

We have previously reported that the day before, the Ukrainian Navy had lost the command ship “Donbas” and the artillery boat “Kremenchuk” in Mariupol.

Reuters journalists have reached the areas controlled by the invaders and filmed the territory nearby the Illich plant.

This is one of the plants where the Ukrainian defenders were fighting off the invaders while hiding in the underground bunkers and tunnels.

There are many bodies of dead civilians in the areas near the plant.

During an interview with Ukrainian journalists on April 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted that new weapons are needed for some sections of the front, namely in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation and in Mariupol, and as soon as possible.

“People say: we need help now, it is a matter of a day, two, three days, and people (from partner countries. – Ed.) say: everything is fine, we will give the help to you in May. What are they waiting for? That we will be fighting for months. Years of war? Some of them may be counting on it. But for us, acceleration (of supply. – Ed.) of weapons is a very important issue,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Previously, on April 13, units of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade defending the besieged by Russian invaders Mariupol, broke through to join the Azov Regiment.
