The communications ship “Ivan Khurs” is the second Project 18280 vessel, was constructed by Shipbuilding Plant Severnaya Verf JSC in St. Petersburg and designed by Central Design Bureau Iceberg OJSC.
The vessel is intended to provide intelligence-gathering, surveillance, communications, fleet management, electronic warfare in the Black Sea and in remote parts of the world’s oceans.

The intelligence-gathering vessel “Ivan Khurs” is part of the 519 division of reconnaissance vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In addition to this ship, the Russian Black Sea Fleet includes 3 more reconnaissance vessels of projects 861M and 864.
