One of the Russian drones launched toward Poland crashed on the grounds of a Territorial Defence Forces military unit in Grójec County near Warsaw.
RMF24 reported on this.
According to the media, the Gerbera drone was not equipped with a warhead and did not cause any damage to military property.
Fragments of other drones were discovered in Chyszów, in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Another damaged drone was also discovered in a field in Sobótka and in the village of Smyków.
Additionally, drone debris was found near Lublin. Upon crashing, it damaged the roof of an agricultural building.
At least 19 Russian drones, including Shahed and Gerbera types, entered Polish airspace via Belarus, after which the air forces of Poland and NATO countries intercepted them.
Around 11 a.m., Polish President Karol Nawrocki announced the completion of the operation in Polish airspace to neutralize the Russian drones.
Additionally, ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were activated during the attack.
Dutch F-35 fighter jets neutralized the majority of the drones.
Before the launch, the Russians modified the Gerbera drones with additional fuel tanks, which increased their flight range.
In their standard configuration, these drones are equipped with only one tank located in the tail section. However, the drones that fell on Polish territory also had an additional fuel tank in the nose section.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that they allegedly did not plan to target any objectives on Polish territory and that these drones are not capable of reaching its border.
