Russian troops attacked a passenger bus near the city of Sumy.
This was reported on the official Facebook page of the National Police of Ukraine.
The bus was attacked by a drone near Bilopillia in the Sumy region, killing nine people and injuring four others, according to preliminary data.
According to the National Police, the bus was heading towards Sumy and was transporting civilians from settlements to the regional center – the city of Sumy.
“Police investigation teams are working at the scene of the tragedy. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the shelling, collecting evidence, and recording every trace of the crime,” the Sumy regional police said.
The city of Bilopillia is located 9 kilometers from the state border between Ukraine and Russia, which allows the Russians to carry out such terrorist acts against the civilian population. In addition, the Russians use various weapons every day to shell the city of Sumy and the Sumy region due to their proximity to the border.
It should be noted that the Russians are constantly attacking the civilian population in Ukraine, ignoring the Fourth Geneva Convention and the 1977 Additional Protocol, which prohibits indiscriminate attacks and attacks on civilian objects.
Recently, on April 23, 2025, the Russians carried out a similar attack on a bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At that time, a bus used to transport employees of one of the enterprises and which made regular trips, taking people to work, was attacked.
The bus was attacked near the city of Marhanets in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the time of the strike, there were about 35 people in the bus. Nine people were killed in the attack.
It should be noted that the city of Marhanets, like Bilopillia, is located near the Russian-occupied territory on the other side of the Dnipro River.
Russian positions are located just 23 km from the city, and similar attacks by them also occur on a regular basis.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that investigative journalists had deanonymized the Russian commanders responsible for targeted drone attacks on civilians in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
