President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has signed an order to call up citizens in the reserve for military training.

ASTRA Telegram channel published the relevant document.

The timing of the training is not disclosed, but the document states that reservists will be drafted into the Russian Armed Forces and the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the reservists will be called up to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, state security agencies, and the Federal Security Service.

The executive authorities have been instructed to ensure that the conscription and the training camps are conducted.

It is worth noting that such training camps are held annually in Russia, but this year’s may well be “special.”

It is possible that the reservists called up for training will be actively agitated to sign a contract with the Russian army.

In addition, it is quite possible that the reservists will be affected by a wave of signing contracts on their behalf with forged signatures, as was the case with Russian conscripts.

On December 15, Militarnyi reported that three Russian conscripts suing the Ministry of Defence over forged contracts had been killed in action against Ukraine.

The three men from Sakhalin (Karafuto) had been in a legal battle with the ministry for nearly nine months. In December, it was confirmed that the last of them, Viktor Baturin, had died.

It is also possible to assume that this year’s military training may be related to a new wave of mobilization in the Russian Federation.

Preparing for the West-2025 military exercise

As previously reported, Russia and Belarus are preparing for the West-2025 strategic military exercises, which will take place on Belarusian soil this year.

On the morning of January 14, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus press service reported on the staff training of the Joint Command of the Regional Group of Troops of the Russian Federation and Belarus.

It is noted that the purpose of the training was to “increase the defense capability” of the Union State.

The staff exercise, which began in Minsk, is part of a set of measures to prepare for the West-2025 joint strategic exercises.
