Russian troops are using Molniya strike drones equipped with yellow phosphorus warheads against Ukrainian forces.
The Ukrainian Vodohrai analytical group reported this, having obtained video footage of one of the attacks.
It is believed that the phosphorus was taken from 120 mm 3D5 smoke shells, originally designed to create smoke screens.
These actions suggest that the enemy is attempting to modify standard munitions to cause greater damage to personnel in trenches.
The use of phosphorus substances can cause large-scale fires and severe burns.
Yellow phosphorus has properties similar to white phosphorus – it is highly flammable and extremely toxic, making it dangerous to humans.
Since 2014, Russian forces have also used 9M22S incendiary munitions from multiple-launch rocket systems against Ukraine.
