The Ethiopian National Defense Forces have likely received Russian KamAZ-53949 Typhoon-K armored vehicles.
This was reported by OSINT analyst Rich Tedd, who posted a video on social network X.
The footage, shot in Ethiopia, shows two trucks carrying two olive-colored Typhoon-K armored vehicles on trailers.
The history of the Typhoon line began in 2010 as part of a program to develop a new generation of armored vehicles for the Russian army.
The 53949 model was designed as a more compact and maneuverable version of the heavy three-axle vehicles in this series.
The vehicle has a V-shaped bottom that effectively dissipates the energy of an explosion, and special energy-absorbing seats. The vehicle’s armor consists of steel plates and ceramic inserts, providing protection against armor-piercing bullets and artillery shell fragments.
The armored vehicle can carry up to 10 people, including two crew members and eight paratroopers. The total weight of the vehicle is about 15 tons, and the 350 horsepower engine allows it to reach speeds of up to 105 km/h on the highway.
