The Belarusian Land Forces have received another Tor-M2 air defense battery from Russia.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced the delivery.
According to the Ministry, the transfer is part of ongoing military and technical cooperation between Minsk and Moscow under the joint air defense system.
The new systems increase the number of Tor-M2K batteries in service in Belarus. Belarus had seven batteries, and the latest delivery brings the total to eight. The previous batch arrived in November 2024.
Belarus first signed contracts for Tor-M2K systems in 2015 during the MAKS-2015 air show, with the first delivery following in 2016.
The initial agreement called for five batteries. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow transferred at least 15 Tor-M2 systems to Belarus.
Following the announcement of a unified integrated air defense system, Belarus likely placed orders for additional units.
The Tor-M2K is mounted on the Belarusian MZKT-6922 chassis. The missile system itself is identical to the Russian version.
The system carries 16 missiles with radio-command guidance. Two radars — one for target detection and one for missile guidance — are positioned near the launcher, which uses vertical-launch cells.
The search radar can detect targets at 32–35 km and track up to 48 simultaneously with 360-degree coverage. The guidance radar can direct up to four missiles at a single target.
The system uses 9M338K missiles with a maximum range of up to 16 km and an interception altitude of up to 10 km.
