The Russian military continues to search for ways to combat FPV drones.
Ukrainian FPV drones have proven to be a serious threat to the invaders’ helicopters.
As a result, new inventions have appeared in Russian forums to protect equipment and crews from Ukrainian drones.
The updates in the media were published after the Russians complained about the loss of a Ka-52 helicopter.
‘The destruction of a Ka-52 by an FPV drone has become a symbol of the new imbalance in military technology. A drone that costs $500 is capable of damaging a helicopter worth tens of millions of dollars. This is not only an economic blow, but also a strong psychological factor,’ such statements appeared on several platforms of Russian ‘military correspondents.’
The cause of despair was the news that on Saturday, October 11, the invaders lost a Ka-52 helicopter, which may be worth up to $16 million.
Previously, both Ukrainian and Russian media spread the news that pilots of the 59th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ UAV Units had used an FPV drone to destroy a Russian Mi-28 helicopter.
According to Oryx, over the course of more than three years of full-scale war, Russia has lost at least 64 helicopters, including 50 Ka-52s that were destroyed, 13 damaged, and one captured.
This accounts for over 40% of the total Ka-52 fleet at the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier, we provided an analysis of the capabilities and losses of the Russian Ka-52 helicopters in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
