The Governor of the Bryansk region reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a thermal power plant and an electrical substation, leaving some residents without electricity and heating.
Alexander Bogomaz announced this on his Telegram channel.
The regional leader claims the attack took place overnight between January 15 and 16, using a multiple rocket launch system (MRLS).
As a result of the attack, the Klintsovskaya Thermal Power Plant and the Naytopovich Substation were damaged. Emergency services are working at the site.
The day before, after 11:30 p.m., a missile threat was declared in the Bryansk region, which lasted for about twenty minutes.
The Klintsovskaya TPP generates electricity and is the main centralized heating source for consumers in the city of Klintsy, the Bryansk region.
It supplies electricity and heat, including to the local military unit and industrial enterprises.
The annual electricity supply capacity is 40 million kWh.
In total, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated on Friday morning that overnight, its air defense allegedly shot down 106 Ukrainian drones over various regions of Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively targeting other important Russian enterprises as well. Specifically, on the evening of January 14, the Nevinnomyssk Azot Chemical Plant in the Stavropol Krai of Russia came under attack.
The plant is located near the city of Nevinnomyssk and is one of the largest chemical factories in southern Russia.
The Ukrainian missile strike on January 13 destroyed the main workshop of the Russian Atlant Aero Plant in the city of Taganrog, the Rostov region.
