News

The Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy has received a batch of new Su-30SM2 multirole fighter jets.

The aircraft were manufactured and delivered by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).

The Russians are keeping the number of transferred fighters secret. However, the video shows two aircraft being prepared for flights.

The manufacturer states that the new combat aircraft have already passed the required ground and flight tests and have headed to their duty station.

This is the first official delivery of aircraft of this type in 2025 under the Russian state defense order. The previous transfer took place in August of last year.

The Su-30SM2 fighters are a further development of the aircraft currently in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces and Naval Aviation. They are manufactured at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.

It is stated that the new aircraft have received an improved onboard radio-electronic equipment suite, a modern electronic warfare system, and can employ new types of aerial weapons.

UAC has announced that it is working on further improvements to the fighter and increasing the pace of its production.

Export

Despite aviation losses in the war against Ukraine, Russia continues to export Su-30 series fighters. In particular, in August the Belarusian Air Force received two Su-30SM2 fighters. This was already the second batch of such aircraft this year.

The fighters with red tail numbers ‘11’ and ‘12’ arrived at the 61st Fighter Air Base in Baranovichi. The first pair of Su-30SM2 aircraft – with numbers ‘09’ and ‘10’ – had arrived there earlier, on 27 May 2025.

Before this, Minsk had received eight aircraft of the previous Su-30SM version. The deliveries are taking place under the framework agreement between Belarus and Russia, signed in June 2017. The document provides for the transfer of 12 Su-30SM fighters.

In 2024, Kazakhstan also received six aircraft. In addition, in 2023–2024 Myanmar received a total of four Su-30SME export fighters.
