Russia was preparing terrorist attacks in Europe using drones and canned goods filled with powerful explosives.

RMF24 reported on this, citing Gazeta Wyborcza.

The newspaper obtained information from the findings of Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the National Prosecutor’s Office.

“One theory suggests that Russian military intelligence (GRU) was preparing terrorist attacks using drones and corn cans filled with powerful explosives,” sources told Gazeta Wyborcza.

The attacks were reportedly planned to take place in Poland, Lithuania, and Germany. Intelligence services discovered a stash of explosives hidden in canned goods at a cemetery in Lithuania.

According to the report, the cans fit perfectly into holders mounted on drones.

The newspaper also describes the arrest in Poland of Władysław G., a suspected courier for Russian intelligence, who, according to investigators, transported explosive-filled cans, drone components, and SIM cards between Lithuania, Poland, and Germany.

“The Internal Security Agency assures that its officers are conducting ongoing investigations into individuals and incidents that may pose a potential threat to Poland’s security. It does not disclose any further details,” Gazeta Wyborcza writes.

If convicted, the suspect faces life imprisonment. Poland’s National Prosecutor’s Office aims to conclude the investigation by the end of the year.

On August 1, Poland’s Internal Security Agency detained a Kazakhstani citizen in the city of Bydgoszcz on suspicion of espionage.

He was identified as a career military intelligence officer operating under diplomatic cover in one of the European countries.

It was later revealed that the detainee’s name is Anuar B., and he had been working at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ukraine. His diplomatic immunity was valid only within Ukrainian territory, so there were no obstacles to his arrest in Poland.
