Over the past few months, the Russian military in Ukraine has gradually lost its self-propelled guns 2S5 Giatsint-S.

According to confirmed data, the invaders lost at least seven of these 152-mm self-propelled guns.

Two of them were destroyed. The other five were captured by the Ukrainian military.

The first elimination of the Giatsint-S self-propelled gun of the Russian Federation became known in August.

That time, the Ukrainian artillery of the 44th Artillery Brigade hit the Giatsint-S in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The second 2S5 Giatsint-S was destroyed in September by a drone due to an adjusted artillery strike.

In early September, Ukrainian troops began offensive operations in the Kharkiv region.

In just a few days, Ukrainians managed to take control of such important cities for Russia as Kupiansk and Izium.

In the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian military discovered 5 2S5 Giatsint-S abandoned by the Russians.

The captured 152mm self-propelled guns were in operational condition. Therefore, they fell into the hands of Ukrainian gunners with Russian ammunition for them.

The 152mm Giatsint-S self-propelled gun has an open top.

The gun is designed to conduct counter-battery warfare, destroy firing points and field fortification, self-propelled guns and enemy tanks. The maximum firing range is 27,000 meters when using conventional ammunition (some sources indicate different data — 28,400 meters).
