A ceremony of launching the Admiral Amelko frigate (serial number 925), the fifth ship of the 22350 project, took place at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg.

This is reported by the official website of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

The frigate was launched on August 14th, 2025, and the ship itself is intended for the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy and is the first in a modified version of the project.

The modification primarily consists in increasing the number of universal vertical launchers from 16 to 24.

The frigate was laid down on April 23th, 2019, simultaneously with the sixth ship of the Admiral Chichagov series (serial number 926).

It should be noted that at the launching ceremony of Admiral Amelko, it was announced about the delivery of this frigate by the end of 2027, but given the serious degradation of the shipbuilding industry, this date is doubtful, and its actual entry into the fleet will take place no earlier than 2028.

The Admiral Amelko frigate has a standard displacement of approximately 4,500 tons, and a full displacement of 5,400 tons with a length of 135 meters, a width of 16.4 meters and a draft of 4.5 meters.

The ship is equipped with an all-Russian M55R CODOG diesel-gas turbine propulsion system, including two M90FR gas turbine engines from UEC NPO Saturn with a total capacity of 55,000 horsepower and two 10D49 diesel engines from Kolomna Plant with a capacity of 10,400 horsepower, as well as two ADG-1000 diesel generators of 1000 kW each.

Thanks to two five-blade fixed-pitch propellers, the frigate reaches a maximum speed of 29.5 knots (55 km/h) and is capable of covering 4,500 nautical miles at an economical speed of 14 knots with an autonomy of up to 30 days. The ship’s crew consists of 180 to 210 people, including an aviation group.

Admiral Amelko’s armament includes a universal ship’s complex with 24 vertical launch cells (3×8), which is an improvement over the 16 cells on previous ships in the series, for Kalibr-NK, Oniks and Zircon hypersonic missiles.

Air defense is provided by the Poliment-Redut complex with 32 cells (4×8) for 9M96E, 9M96E2 and 9M100 missiles, as well as two Palma anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems with Sosna-R missiles and 30 mm cannons.

In order to hit submarines, the ship is equipped with the Paket-NK system with two four-tube 324 mm torpedo tubes, and to hit land and surface targets, the ship is equipped with the A-192M Armat 130 mm cannon with a range of up to 23 km. The aircraft has a hangar and a runway for one Ka-27, Ka-29 or Ka-31 helicopter.

The control systems include a Poliment radar with an active phased array antenna, a Zarya-3 hydroacoustic system for anti-submarine defense, an electronic warfare system, and a Sigma control system for coordinating all ship systems.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that a new Russian offshore tugboat Kapitan Ushakov of Project 23470 had sunk near the quay wall in St. Petersburg.
