Russia wants to use the so-called Wagner PMC to draw Belarus into a full-scale war against Ukraine.

The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine said that it had received intelligence indicating that the Russians were preparing a large-scale provocation.

The provocation is to take place “under a false flag” at a strategic facility in Belarus – the Mozyr Oil Refinery.

According to the available information, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of Russian military personnel is preparing a terrorist attack.

The training is also carried out by Russian special services officers who were sent to Belarus under the guise of mercenaries of the Wagner PMC.

“This Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group is supposed to commit a provocation, pretending to be Ukrainian saboteurs,” the SSU said.

The Russian Federation plans to blame Ukraine for the attack in order to once again try to drag Minsk into a full-scale war. The SSU received information about the planned terrorist attack in Belarus from several sources.

“In particular, from the testimony of a Russian serviceman who was captured by Ukrainian defenders in the Zaporizhzhia region,” the SSU added.

The SSU cyber specialists also recovered and analysed information on the mobile phone of the captured invader.

Among other things, it was established that he had previously taken part in hostilities against the Defence Forces in southern Ukraine, and had recently been instructed to relocate to Belarus as a member of the so-called Wagner PMC.

Already at the stage of changing his place of service, the Russian military man received information about a “special mission” at the Mozyr Oil Refinery. The SSU cyber specialists found deleted correspondence with other performers, photos of the facility and some information about the operation on his phone.

As previously reported, on 21 February 2022, Russian special services conducted a false flag operation, attacking Russian territory using armoured vehicles under the guise of a “Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group”.
