Russian defense company KPB Polet has introduced the second version of its Spider anti-drone netting system, designed to target small UAVs.
The pro-Kremlin Ramzai Telegram channel reported the development.
According to the manufacturer, the updated model features a reinforced metal core and upgraded projectiles, expanding its effective coverage area to 30 meters.
The company shared that the improvements were made in response to requests from Russian troops facing new types of munitions deployed by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
The developers claim that recent Ukrainian drone-launched munitions are capable of inflicting lethal damage on infantry at distances of up to 20 meters. A trial batch of the updated Spider systems is currently undergoing field tests with Russian forces in occupied Ukrainian territory.
KPB Polet also reported foreign interest in the system, with inquiries from Kazakhstan, Vietnam, China, and deliveries already made to Africa. However, the company emphasized that it prioritizes supplying Russian troops involved in the invasion of Ukraine.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Ukrainian firm TENETA had developed its own anti-drone device — the disposable MITLA net launcher.
