In Russia, assault units have been formed from personnel of the Strategic Rocket Forces of the Russian Federation.

OSINT analyst Unit Observer revealed this.

According to his findings, the Russian command has already deployed these units in the Toretsk sector.

As early as November 2024, the movement of military personnel of the 12th Chief Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense was observed along the border between the temporarily occupied Donetsk region and Russia.

The 12th Chief Directorate mainly consists of nuclear weapons storage bases and arsenals of the Strategic Rocket Forces.

In December, information about a previously unknown 20th Regiment operating in the Toretsk sector without a clear command structure was released.

Later, after the publication of obituaries, it was revealed that the 20th Regiment belongs to military unit No. 43879, part of the 132nd Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade.

Other military units were also associated with this brigade – No. 25625 (“Object 1200” – “Khabarovsk-47”), No. 73752 (repair and technical base), and No. 39995 (“Object 644” – “Irkutsk-45”), which are part of the security and engineering support units, respectively.

The first mention of a motor rifle regiment of the Strategic Rocket Forces dates back to July 2024, indicating the beginning of its formation in the middle of the year.

In October 2024, Militarnyi reported that Russia had reassigned soldiers from the Strategic Rocket Forces, including operators of nuclear launchers, to infantry units for the war against Ukraine.

In September 2024, it was reported that the Russian Navy had formed a “Frigate” mechanized battalion from the crew of the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier.

The “Fregat” battalion was initially located in the Kharkiv region but was later redeployed to the Pokrovsk sector.

The Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, the only one in the Russian Navy, has been undergoing repairs for a long time.
