The Russian Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTZ) launched a new production site to increase the production of tank engines.
The opening ceremony of the ion nitrogen production site was shown in the media of the Russian Federation.
The designers at ChTZ-Uraltrak improved the fundamental characteristics of the serial V-92S2 diesel engine by augmenting the strength properties of the metal used in the components.
To increase the volume of production of high-strength parts, a new section of ion nitriding was established at the enterprise.
Ion nitration increases hardness, resistance to wear, and endurance of parts.
Due to the new equipment from Belarus, multiple crankshafts can now be processed simultaneously.
“Experts will work out a new technology and determine the operating modes of the plants. Then mass production of parts for tank engines will begin at the new site. They will be able to work twice as long,” according to the enterprise representative.
The creation of a new production site at the enterprise became part of the implementation of a large project to modernize the ChTZ-Uraltrak machine-tool park.
The project aims to multiply the production of enhanced engines for T-72B3M and T-90M ‘Proryv’ tanks.
“The new system will triple production. And most importantly, these are new characteristics that allow to increase the efficiency of technology,” the company stated.
T-72B3M and T-90M tanks will receive the upgraded engine V-92S2 with capacity of 1000 hp and a system of automatic control of the parameters of the power plant and automatic control of the thermal mode.
Recall that in November 2023, a powerful explosion occurred on the territory of the Russian enterprise Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant-Uraltrak.
