The Russian military has taken delivery of new Zubr air defense systems designed to counter drones.
The state-owned corporation Rostec announced the handover of the first systems.
The systems are intended to protect critical infrastructure, as well as military and industrial facilities.
The High-Precision Systems holding has developed the Zubr airspace monitoring and control system.
According to reports, the radar station included in the system can detect both large and small aerial targets at ranges of up to 1.5 kilometers.
According to the developers, the Zubr system independently detects drones and automatically tracks them. The operator only needs to make a decision and give the command to engage the target.
The system comprises four autonomous fire modules armed with 7.62×54 mm machine guns, a centralized command-and-control center, and an integrated radar.
Russian sources claim that the systems have already starte combat duty, providing protection for infrastructure facilities against attacks by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
