The Russian military has started using an updated version of the Lancet strike drone in Ukraine.
Ukrainian radio technology specialist Serhiy Flash reported the development.
Experts have noted changes in the antenna system, with a new control antenna appearing on the drone’s body, which could impact its performance.
“The main observation is an increase in operating range. I believe this is due to the new type of antenna,” Flash noted.
Analysis of wreckage and components of the downed drone indicates that the warhead has been reinforced compared to earlier models.
The video transmitter has also been modified, which could improve communication and control over longer distances.
The Lancet, developed by Russia’s Zala Aero Group, is a loitering munition designed to strike both stationary and mobile targets, including lightly armored vehicles, radars, and artillery.
Despite the upgrades, Ukrainian forces continue to shoot down new versions of the drones.
FPV drones, which inflicted damage on the enemy, captured several drones on camera.
Air defense FPV drones function like short-range interceptors, enabling quick reaction to incoming threats.
Operators use onboard cameras and real-time video feeds to detect and strike targets. Ukraine’s defense industry is developing several systems to counter different types of drones.
