As part of the Russian-Belarusian Zapad 2025 exercise, Russia has deployed Iskander-M missile systems in the Kaliningrad region, aiming them toward Warsaw.

A video of the deployment of the Iskander was published by Clash Report.

The observers of the Cyberboroshno community have determined that the video had been filmed on the E28 highway, north of the village of Kudryavtsevo, the Kaliningrad region, approximately 35 kilometers from the Polish border.

According to the video, the Russians deployed two Iskander launchers and aimed the ballistic missiles toward Poland, in the direction of Warsaw and Lublin.

The deployment of the SRBM took place as part of the Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad 2025, which began on September 12th and will last until September 16th.

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Pavel Muraveika said that at the first stage, the troops would be engaged in repelling an enemy air attack, after which they would move on to preparing defensive actions on land.

The second stage of the exercise will focus on practicing offensive actions aimed at defeating enemy groups and clearing the territories of them. According to the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania, Russia plans to involve 30,000 troops in the exercise.

The exercises will take place at training grounds in both Russia and Belarus, as well as in the waters and airspace of the Baltic and Barents Seas.

Iskander in Kaliningrad

Russia has been deploying Iskander air defense systems in the Kaliningrad region since 2007, but it was done on a temporary basis. It was only in 2018, after the rearmament of the 152nd Guards Missile Brigade, that the Iskander missile systems were deployed on a permanent basis.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained at the time, the deployment of Iskander-M missile systems to the Kaliningrad region was caused by ‘NATO’s destructive actions.’

Realizing this threat, after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, NATO developed a plan to quickly destroy the Russian enclave in Kaliningrad.

“We have already planned and prepared for this. Russia poses a challenge of mass and speed, and we have developed solutions to effectively stop this threat,” said General Christopher Donahue, the Commander of U.S. Forces Europe.
