The Teikov Division of the Strategic Missile Forces of the Russian Federation is conducting maneuvers on the routes of combat patrol of autonomous launchers of the Yars strategic missile system.

This is stated in the Russian Ministry of Defense report.

It is reported that about 1 thousand military personnel participated in the exercises in the Ivanovo region, more than 100 units of equipment were involved.

“Military personnel are working on the issue of deploying missile systems to field positions, marching up to 100 km, spreading units with changes of positions, their engineering equipment, masking and security,” the Russian MoD said.

The Strategic Missile Forces of the Russian Federation is a separate-troops branch of the Russian Armed Forces, the main component of its strategic nuclear forces. It is designed for nuclear strikes on the enemy.

The basis of the Strategic Missile Forces group is the Yars missile systems in land-based and mobile versions.

The Yars is a strategic missile system with a solid fuel intercontinental ballistic missile.

Solid fuel missile consists of three stages. Yars is equipped with an external body made of composite material, which is based on aramid fiber.

On the flight trajectory, the missile is guided by an engine nozzle returning to a small angle on the hinge. The node changes the direction of the engines thrust on each stage separately.

In 2021, Russia revealed the specifications of the modernized Yars-S missile system.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, “Yars-S” is equipped with solid-fuel ballistic missiles of a diameter of 1.86 meters and a length of 17.8 meters. The starting mass of the carrier is 46 tons with a payload weight of 1.25 tons.

As stated in Russia, the system can hit targets at ranges up to 10 thousand kilometers. The missile can carry tre to four 300-500 kilotons warheads or six 150 kilotons warheads.
