Drones hit a Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the Belgorod region.

The Russian ASTRA Telegram channel reported on this.

It is stated that the incident took place at noon on February 29 near the village of Golovchine in the Grayvoronskyi district.

According to the publication’s sources, the attack was carried out by 4 unmanned aerial vehicles at once.

As a result of their explosion, the Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system was damaged. Two servicemen of the Russian army were also wounded.

However, it is unclear from the report whether the Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun system was trying to shoot down the unidentified UAVs or was itself a target.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported an attack on February 29 at the specified time in the Belgorod region. However, according to their version, there was allegedly only one drone.

Russian invaders have traditionally claimed that the UAV attack had been stopped by air defense.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that drones have hit the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the Belgorod region.

In January of this year, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine released a video capturing a strike on enemy anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. As a result of the drone use, two Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems were disabled.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repeatedly destroyed such Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun systems in various parts of the front and in the enemy’s rear. One such incident occurred in the Kherson region in November 2023. The anti-aircraft missile and gun system was hit in the middle of a field near the village of Chaplynka. Most likely, it was destroyed with the help of a drone or GMLRS 227mm rocket.

Pantsir-S1

The Russian Pantsir-S1 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system is designed for the close cover of civilian and military facilities from air attacks. The system’s main weapons include two 2А38М twin 30mm guns and 12 57Е6-Е anti-aircraft two-stage solid-fuel missiles.
