Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Roshel offers to replace the failed German contract for 400 armored vehicles for Ukraine with its vehicles.
Bild reported on this.
After Bild published information that the German company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft had failed to deliver 400 BATT UMG armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the CEO of the Canadian company Roshel offered the German government its own facilities.
“After reading your recent article about the current procurement of equipment by the German Ministry of Defense, I felt the need to share information about our MRAP vehicles, which, in my opinion, are a much better alternative,” wrote CEO Roman Shimonov.
Shimonov said that his company would be able to close the contract that had already failed to meet the deadline. The company has 100 Roshel Senator vehicles at its disposal, which can be delivered almost immediately.
The company is currently capable of producing 140 armored vehicles per year. At the same time, the CEO actually proposed to localize their production in Germany.
“Local production in Germany will save logistics costs, create jobs and keep investments in the country, which in turn will save tax money,” he said.
According to Bild, the total cost of the BATT UMG vehicle, including all services under the contract, will be €787,500. The Canadian company offers its own vehicles for less than €375,000 per MRAP vehicle.
It is worth noting that the comparison of the two vehicles is not entirely correct, given that the German government has contracted MRAP as mine-resistant vehicles, but FFG has not certified its vehicles, so they cannot be considered as such.
At the same time, Roshel offers a vehicle that is already certified in the MRAP class:
“Our MRAPs have been certified according to NATO STANAG 4569 and meet Class 2 ballistic protection and Class 3 blast protection,” the company said.
This means that the proposed Canadian vehicles can withstand an explosion of up to 8 kilograms of TNT or fire from small arms of 7.62 mm caliber.
Both vehicles are currently being actively used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the war against Russia. It is known that Roshel supplied more than 1,000 vehicles of various types to Ukraine during the war.
