Turkish defense manufacturer Roketsan has presented the Tayfun Block-4, its latest hypersonic ballistic missile.
The company’s press service published a video of the presentation made at the IDEF-2025 defense industry exhibition in Istanbul.
According to the company, the Tayfun Block-4 is an upgraded version of the original missile, offering an extended range and higher velocity, which allows it to evade missile defense systems more effectively.
The missile weighs approximately 7.3 tons, measures about 10 meters in length, and has a diameter of 610 mm. Roketsan describes it as Turkey’s first hypersonic ballistic missile capable of reaching speeds above Mach 5 and striking targets hundreds of kilometers away.
“Tayfun Block-4 achieves long-range precision strike capability, setting another milestone for the Turkish defense sector,” the company stated. “Equipped with a multi-purpose warhead, the missile is designed to hit strategic targets, including air defense systems, command centers, hangars, and other critical infrastructure.”
While official range data has not been released, unofficial reports suggest the missile can hit targets at distances of up to 1,000 km.
Roketsan continues to expand its Tayfun missile program, which launched with initial flight tests in October 2022. During those tests, the missile reached a range of 561 km in 458 seconds.
Further trials took place in June 2023 from Rize-Artvin Airport in northeastern Turkey, confirming the missile’s performance and advancing the program toward mass production.
