Rheinmetall to Supply Grenade Launcher Rounds for Lithuania and Grenades to Estonia

German defense giant Rheinmetall will supply 40-mm grenade launcher rounds to Lithuania and hand grenades to Estonia.

This was reported by the company’s press service.

The total value of these orders is about EUR 33 million.

Estonia reportedly signed a framework contract with Rheinmetall in the second quarter of 2025 for the supply of hand grenades.

The fragmentation grenades are to be delivered in 2026 and 2027, and the offensive hand grenades from 2026 to 2029, in significant quantities in each case. The value of the order is approximately €17 million gross.

Back in December 2024, Lithuania placed an order for several tens of thousands of high-explosive grenade launchers of 40 x 46 mm caliber. The value of this order is about 16 million euros. The ammunition is to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.

This ammunition from Rheinmetall can be used by all standard automatic, under-barrel, and other types of grenade launchers of this caliber. Other NATO countries also use this modern ammunition.
